The more the better!What do we do ourselves?Amstelveen has a large team of field staff who keep up with the greenery in Amstelveen on a daily basis. The field service also inspects the greenery and trees for safety and condition. They replace trees, lawn and shrubs every year to keep all plants healthy. When refurbishing the various neighborhoods in Amstelveen, we are looking carefully at where we can preserve greenery and also add greenery. For example, we are in talks with a school to build a mini forest. This way we bring children closer to nature. For the widening of the A9 and the renewal of the Amstelveen line, it is unavoidable that greenery is removed. This has a major impact on the green and green experience in the city. The starting point is therefore always to maintain as much greenery as possible and to repair / relocate removed greenery after work. We will arrange the planting ourselves to compensate for the felled trees for the A9. We have this expertise in-house.Did you know that:Amstelveen is a Bee-friendly municipality? Spring flowering bulbs are best planted from September to December.What can you do yourself?A green roof or facade with our subsidyA roof or facade with plants has many advantages and it also looks beautiful. This keeps the roof cooler, doubling the life of the roof. Planting on roofs or façades provides sound insulation and contributes to biodiversity, making it attractive for various animal species, such as birds and bees. Plants also help to make your roof rainproof. Green roofs act like a sponge; they can hold 60 to 80 percent more water than a bare roof.
